Meet Your Speech-Language Pathologist
Melisa Gaygusuz, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist | ASHA Certified | NY & NJ Licensed
I am a licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Pace University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from CUNY Brooklyn College. I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and am licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey.
I founded Strategic Speech Solutions because I believe every person deserves access to high-quality, individualized speech therapy — without the waitlists, commute, or one-size-fits-all approach. Through telehealth, I deliver evidence-based therapy from the comfort of your home, with flexible scheduling that fits your life.
I specialize in working with children and adults across a wide range of communication needs, including speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency and stuttering, accent modification, cognitive-communication therapy, and parent coaching. For children, I work closely with parents because I believe caregivers are the most powerful agents of change. For adults, I create individualized treatment plans focused on your specific communication goals.
Whether you are a parent concerned about your child’s speech development, an adult recovering from a neurological event, or a professional looking to refine your communication skills — I am here to help. Call or text (917) 426-7007 for a free 15-minute consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does teletherapy work?
All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection. For children, a parent or caregiver should be nearby to assist as needed.
Is online speech therapy as effective as in-person?
Yes. Research consistently shows that teletherapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most speech and language disorders. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) recognizes telepractice as an appropriate model of service delivery.
Who do you work with?
We serve children (ages 2+) and adults with a wide range of communication needs — from speech sound disorders and language delays to accent modification and cognitive-communication therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a private-pay practice. We also accept Medicare. For private insurance, we provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients recover 50–80% of session costs this way.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Speech therapy is an eligible expense for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
What states are you licensed in?
We are currently licensed to provide services to clients located in New York and New Jersey.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on the client’s needs and goals. We’ll determine the best session length during your initial evaluation.
How often will I/my child need therapy?
Most clients attend 1–2 sessions per week. Frequency is determined by the severity of the communication challenge and your personal goals.
What is the cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows are billed at the full session rate.
